Music - "N´Kodo" Single CD
The two tracks on this CD showcase Djamel's unique style while only touching on a small part of his musical range. Rhythmic world beat and intelligent ethno-pop, spiced with traditional elements, effortlessly trip from one culture to the next. The mixture of French and Arabic mirrors the multi-lingualism that North Africans grow up with. "N'Kodo" harminously combines rhythms from Andalucia with oriental melodies as Djamel tells his far away nephew how much he misses being able to accompany him through his first steps in life, how he remembers his laughter and how he misses sharing his experiences. "Etoile Filante" (Shooting Star), the second track on the CD was a huge chart success for Djamel in his home country. Using an Egyptian baladi rhythm beloved of belly dancers the world over, the song entreats us not to mourn lost things or people, whether a mother, girlfriend, father or boyfriend, but to celebrate and enjoy the time they are with us so that release can come in time. In the chorus, Djamel calls on the saint 'Djilali' to heal his mournful condition and help him to let go so that he can resume his normal life. N'Kodo - RadioRemix by Tutu |
